RavenLore -- More Yarncraft Diseases and Cheesy Grapefruit Surprise

A bunch of new yarncrafting diseases have made their presence known in the Common Room!  Thank you to HelpfulKitten, Isilsartari, LASH, Mathematichica, TindraTieren, and Wendebular for bringing them to my attention.

Celtic Cable Disorder: A devotion to the designs of Lucy Hague. Causes intense desire to learn cabling. Affects a fairly specialized population, but once infected, the condition is incurable. I suspect I might be very susceptible to this one myself as I have had my eye on Taliesen for several years now.

Color Affliction: While this ailment applies primarily to the need to knit Color Affection, the term can be extended to encompass the rest of  Veera Välimäki's designs as well.  A longstanding infection, it has been endemic ever since I have been involved in the House Cup.  Fairly contagious, but mostly benign.

The Epic Epidemic: This disease,  currently sweeping through the Tower, involves Tania Richter's amazing RPG MKAL, Yarn Quest 2017 - Heroes of Yarnia.  It has caused a breakout of gorgeous double knitting.  Due to the RPG nature of this disease, symptoms may vary slightly, but the results are pretty spectacular.  I expect this one will have sporadic outbreaks for years to come.

KALcification, aka KALcinosis:  A mass outbreak of a particular KAL, such as the Epic Epidemic above.  This is a more generic term for a KAL outbreak, generally referring to the phenomenon as a whole and used until each specific outbreak gets its own name.

Kate Davies Disorder:  As implied by the name, this malady involves a compulsion to knit the designs of Kate Davies. Symptoms are widely varied; outbreaks may run the gamut from cute colorwork mittens to cleverly cabled tunics.  Since the infecting vector can be so variable, wide swathes of the knitting population are susceptible.

Locatelliitis: A condition characterized by the attraction to the designs of Joji Locatelli. Effects of this one are generally confined to the neck and the torso (although in a few cases, they may extend to below the hips.)   As with KDD, a wide variety of symptoms may be experienced, so similar populations may be affected.

Word(s) of the week:  Cheesy Grapefruit Surprise is a meal composed of whatever leftovers one has in one's fridge or pantry. Coined by GazeboGal  when she perused her fridge just before shopping day and started listing the ingredients that were available. First mention I can find is in this post from over seven(!) years ago.
