Last week in the Common Room -- Needles, Plotting, and Roombas!

Needles, needles, what are your favorite needles?

Someone may make a scatter plot of how knitting tension relates to preferred needle material.

Flamingo legs!

Knitted cat toys!

Plotting, plotting, plotting for next term!

Remember: measure the size of your projects against your own abilities and available time, not those of others!

Sloth leggings, a sloth calendar, and slothful people.

A very divisive list of top fantasy series is out. We disagree.

People love their Roombas.

The Final Showcase of the Winter Term!

It has been an incredible term filled with so many amazing projects!  (I'm not quite sure how anyone had time for any of these since the term seemed like it lasted about three weeks.)  And now it's time for our final showcase of the Winter Term!

There were so many awesome projects turned in this past month--here are the winners of the Golden Pickle Award!

secrettrail made a cute pair of mice for Ancient Runes and a charming puss in boots for Outdoor Survival (along with his dapper hat, turned in for Herbology):

3secondfish knit a lovely shawl for Ancient Runes and designed and knit a wonderful cabled hat for Charms:

Momtoaaandm crocheted a delightful turtle for Ancient Runes:

softnshiny wove a fantastic wrap for Ancient Runes:

nekobasu gorgeously dyed some fiber for Ancient Runes:

WillowGlade wove a whole collection of beautiful napkins for Charms, Divination, Herbology, and Outdoor Survival (over 4700 yards of weaving!):

Jayannell knit a marvelous colorwork hat with teapots for Charms:

Topfrog knit a second version of her exquisite self-designed lace collar for DADA (and yes, she won a badge the first time, too):

There was one person who did a bit of experimentation this past month and thus has earned the Electric Pickle Badge, for science!

FeoragRuadh experimented with dyeing with tea, along with using different mordants, for Charms:

And it is only logical to round out the term with a collection of people who really succeeded in outrunning the Mallet of Sanity to earn the Pickle of Sanity Badge!

rondaletts knit an enormous shawl, using an amazing 1260 yards of yarn, for Transfiguration:

kaypendragon used an unbelievable 752 yards of thread to crochet a large doily for Transfiguration:

HelpfulKitten knit a sweater "in the blink of an eye" using an unbelievable 1510 yards of yarn for Quidditch:

WillowGlade started weaving tea towels for Flying and got an unfathomable 5068 yards in before having to turn her project in as a partial (and this is in addition to the 4700+ yards of napkins above!):

Congratulations to all the badge winners!  And thank you to everyone for another incredible term in Ravenclaw!!  See you in the Spring!
