Term has started and it’s time to celebrate our eight intrepid NEWT students, who have been working on their studies for a month now!
Intallcotton is going for Transfiguration and Herbology. She is throwing herself into this NEWT by doing a cabled cardigan, a cabled vest, another cardigan, AND a throw, aiming for over 5000 yards either knitted or crocheted. She has picked some glorious colors for them, too.
KhenaSanskula is mixing Potions to bring color to History of Magic for her NEWT. She will commemorate people and places in the magical world with a large blanket, mittens, two pairs of socks, a cowl and a hat.
The socks and the blanket (still in progress) give a good idea of the interesting and colorful work she is doing.
bijou3owl is tackling Ancient Runes and Defense Against the Dark Arts by making two large and intricate shawls. To make them even more glorious, she is knitting one of them from her own hand-spun yarn.
MissJaneJetson is doing her very first NEWT, in Potions and DADA. To demonstrate this combination of color and difficulty, she is creating two sweaters. Her colors have to be seen to be truly appreciated.
Hreow is combining Herbology (cables) and DADA for her NEWT. To achieve this, she is making 11 cabled socks and a cabled sweater. Her colors are lovely and we are eagerly awaiting the chance to admire the lovely cabling to come.
Our illustrious HOH Picklemommy is also mixing DADA and potions, and is planning to produce 4 magnificent shawls. Her first one is already completed and is, of course, magnificent.
Soprano1 is taking a different approach to her Potions/Ancient Runes NEWT. She has recently been given 4 looms and plans to take this opportunity to experiment with patterns and colors as she increases her expertise on them.
Her lovely new acquisitions:
Electronjam is combining Divination and Astronomy for her NEWT. She has already completed a fabulous hat and an adorable penguin, and now has an incredible lace shawl to make for a wedding.
Thank you to lsgarner for this Advanced Studies update!
