This term marks the return of The Flight of the First, which in the past was a challenge to turn in a Detention project by the end of the first week of each month. This term things are being changed up a bit, and the challenge is to turn in at least one class by the end of the first week.
All of those who rose to the challenge for the month of May were earburned to the Class Tetris thread to collect a fabulous badge created by Saratheentwife.
Now, for some statistics from this month's Flight!
82 Ravenclaw students turned in at least one class during the first week of May. This is 46.8% of the 175 Sorted 'Claws this term!
All of these students got the minimum for Sorting Priority taken care of, and now have the rest of the month to focus on things like Advanced Studies and Quidditch. The majority turned in just one class during the first (very exciting) week of term, but there were 9 who turned in 3 or more classes! WOW!
The total number of projects turned in by these 82 students was 115! Here is a chart showing the distribution among the eight possible subjects, with the numbers and percentage of the total included.
Will you join the numbers next month? Remember, to fulfill the requirements for the challenge, all you need to do is complete at least one regular class during the first 7 days of the month. No special tags or forms or anything else special needed on your part.
Also, don't forget that we also have the Detention badge for May available. Turn in Detention by the end of the day (11:59POT) on May 26th to earn the badge in honor of Sally Ride!

Flight of the First Week: February Edition
Can you believe that Flight of the First Week ended a couple days ago? February is just whizzing by but of course it always does since it's a shorter month. I did a tag search in the Detention thread and counted 21 Flight of the First Week submissions. Let's take a look at a few of the projects.
Meilindis attempted grafting for the first time when she grafted the arms onto the body of the sweater pictured below. Way to go!
Kokopelli99 knit the awesome tiny Jayne hat pictured below to be a zipper pull on a Firefly-themed box bag. How cool is that?
After working on it for a couple of months, CathyCake was able to finish her first big crocheted bag for her daughter. I'm sure she'll love it.
Jessdhill was able to finish the fun socks pictured below. Her sister is one lucky girl.
To everyone who participated, way to go! And don't forget that there will be another opportunity to participate in Flight of the First Week in March.
Soar Ravenclaw!
