NEWTlings!

Ravenclaw always has those few, brave, slightly mad, students who choose to challenge themselves and begin their term while the rest of us are still sweeping up the scraps of notebook pages torn in frenzy from the previous term. This term, we have nine 'Claws crafting like the wind already!

Kneedleart is using her mastery of transfiguration and history to spin five separate skeins of yarn, each representing a famous/infamous Animagus. Her chosen fiber colors to represent Peter Pettigrew, Rita Skeeter, Sirius Black, James Potter, and Minerva McGonagall are really spot on!

Secrettrail was inspired by The Secret Garden and proposed a soft and lovely Leonora top to show off her Astronomy nebula identification skills. Her proposed lacy, striped Pancharangi shawl, and Lotus Mittens will definitely require a skillful touch with mixing required for Potions, but her colors are so lovely we're sure they'll come out smashing.

cn32 is apparently trying to amass an entire CoMC class full of eggs. She is combining the eggs with Arithmancy to propose many lovely blanket squares, four Pokemon amiguri, a Toothless dragon amiguri, as well as spinning and dyeing enough fiber for a fingering weight cropped cardigan. Surely a clutch worthy of Hagrid himself! The blanket squares in particular are quite lovely already!

Oriocookie will definitely be spending many hours down in the Potions dungeon classroom this term. She will not only be crafting up a scintillatingly colorful Potion, but also getting plenty of practice repelling the Cruciatus Curse. She has proposed a giant, king-sized Temperature Blanket for her husband, with the stripes based on his birth year and place and favorite NFL team (it's a Muggle sport). That is one lucky husband, and we'll be certain to cheer her on this term!

Caranam has also matched historical figures with a clutch of eggs she's discovered. Her proposed three knit tops will be absolutely perfect for summer, and each of the patterns and colorways she has chosen will be fitting tributes to the women they were inspired by - Ginny Weasley Potter, Luna Lovegood, and Fleur Delacour Weasley!

Winemakerssister may have one of the more difficult NEWTs proposed this term. She is combining her expertise in Potions and Transfiguration into a result that many have attempted, but few have succeeded in one term - a Hue Shift afghan. It is in yummy Malabrigo colors and she is happily trucking away on it at the time of this report.

Llim has chosen to spend her time in the greenhouses this term. She is using a historic pattern to create a magical heirloom herbology garden. The Fruhling is a vintage floral lace table runner that will be absolutely stunning and surely keep visitors to the garden enthralled and enchanted.

Bandbabe discovered seven Muggle accessories she could not live without, and has therefore met the requirements for DADA Horcrux and Muggle Studies. Not only is she planning on seven different projects for her NEWT, but they will incorporate knitting, crocheting, and weaving! A trifecta!

Finally, craftyshanna is being very crafty indeed. She will be using doubleknit charts and Ravenclaw Tower's favorite historic marine animal to combine Ancient Runes and History of Magic. Her proposal includes not just knitting the double knit Squid Scarf, but also dyeing the yarn into all of its gradient glory, a new skill for her!

These ambitious 'Claws will need the support of the Tower to cheer them on this term, but their projects are going to be just amazing by the end of July! Soar Ravenclaw!
