RavenLore: Prjónfesta and the Mallet of Sanity

This week's RavenLore is about a couple of things that are usually very present in the Tower this time of term. First off--

You may have seen a lot of references in posts about needing the Mallet or outrunning the Mallet or even ‘Claws threatening to sic the Mallet on each other.  What is this mysterious Mallet? Why, it’s the Mallet of Sanity, of course!

Ravenclaws are known for their, erm, dedication to large projects.  Some might say we are a bit over enamoured of them.  In fact, many of us have been heard to say “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing!”  That’s where the Mallet of Sanity comes in.  When  you are possibly proposing to craft a bit more than seems reasonable, the Mallet is there the whack some sense into you. Sometimes it is deployed by your dormies, sometimes it is the AS staff, sometimes it just...appears.

It is widely ignored.

Word of the Week - Prjónfesta

Prjónfesta - “Prjón” is  Icelandic for knitting; prjónfesta  = gauge.  That sounded like a party to Cascadienne (who was wrangling an Icelandic pattern at the time) so swatching for gauge has become a knitting party in the Ravenclaw Tower.

So what is with the Disco Martin Freeman?  Cyprienne, who loves all things Martin Freeman, had that image as a Ravatar at the time.  Swatch party met partying Martin and the rest is history. Post a picture of your swatch with the word prjónfesta and Martin will usually appear.
