Weekly Showcase Wednesday: A Few Projects from the Middle of February

We're still several days before the end of the month, so the rush of class turn-ins hasn't happened yet. But there were still a handful of incredible projects handed in by Ravenclaws over the past two weeks!

We will once again start off with this week's winners of the Golden Pickle Award, given to projects just for sheer awesomeness.

SaskiaBr knit a lovely lace-edged shawl for Architecture:

winemakerssister made two delightful sets of stitch markers for Architecture and spun a gorgeous skein of yarn for Transfiguration:

Topfrog also spun some beautiful yarn, a skein of purple laceweight for Arithmancy and a peacock-colored gradient for Charms:

celizabethlill crocheted an adorable monkey for Arithmancy:

llim made an unbelievable and mind-blowing paper torus for Astronomy:

maggievanderstok spun a fabulous gradient for Charms:

kvaustin knit a stunning gradient lace shawl for Charms:

specialKknits knit a marvelous shawl for Transfiguration:

Hreow knit a fantastic shawl for Quidditch:

There was a little bit of mid-month insanity as well, and for crafting a bit of craziness, we have the Pickle of Sanity Badge.

SarahTheEntwife knit seventeen owl puffs (using 680 yards of yarn) in the first ten days of the month to turn in to Muggle Studies:

And there was also a little humor, which is why we have the Darth Pickle Badge.

irreverentyarns made me laugh in both the first and second rounds of Quidditch with her story of a St. Mungo's Hospital trainee healer, told from the point of view of a Daily Prophet reporter.  I can't wait to read the third installment next month!

Amazing work, 'Claws!  Congratulations to all the badge winners!

Sunday Quidditch - Rotation 2 Update

Kudos to our 23 students who have been hard at work expanding their knowledge of mediwizardry, in addition to their regularly scheduled classes and Advanced Studies!

We have had 21 students so far studying the care of creature-induced injuries and Muggle medical techniques on the first floor.

Winemakerssister, akasha111182, knitsNhikes, Biologyrose, 3trees, ec0g33k, mrswingnut, Topfrog, rondaletts, Gipcsoul, SarahTheEntwife, lostmoonofpoosh, SaskiaBr, Omeletsmom, Rosimoto, lsgarner, gojenn, Bklyngrrl67, Pumpahkin, Caranam, bigsnakes

Here are the results of their studies --

Two of our students have turned in their potions or plant poisoning antidotes from the third floor.

Kvaustin studied the properties of bamboo and knit this 812 yard cardigan:

IrreverentYarns was interviewed by the Daily Prophet for her work in the Potions and Plant Poisoning ward. She’s knit this adorable sheep hat (which seems to be multiplying rapidly among the Ravelverse), and a lovely pair of lacey socks:

There is still time to complete your mediwizard specialty rotation and post on the Quidditch pitch, if you haven’t already.  Don't forget to drop by the Tower Quidditch locker room for your strategizing and planning needs!

Let’s finish strong and see how many more we can post before the March 3 midnight POT deadline.  There’s still plenty of time – remember, we work Smarter, Not Harder.

Soar, Ravenclaw!

Ravenclaw closed out January with some incredible projects, and already in February 'Claws have continued to do awesome things!

As usual, let's start the showcase with the winners of the Golden Pickle Award, given to those projects that really stood out in the crowd!

There are always Ravenclaws trying to do the impossible!  These 'Claws succeeded in outrunning the Mallet of Sanity in order to win the Pickle of Sanity Badge.

rosimoto spun an incredible 7055 yards in January for Ancient Runes, Architecture, Astronomy, Charms, Muggle Studies, and Transfiguration (as well as crocheting another 1310 yards for other classes!), and already in February has spun another 1884 yards for Ancient Runes!

SaskiaBr knit a beautiful wrap for Architecture--1430 yards for a single class!

sarie08 bravely fixed a mistake in her colorwork mitten by dropping down many many rows and redoing them!

bigsnakes is at it again, turning in 3452 yards of machine knitting for a single class!

There were a couple posts that elicited giggles from me, so for making me laugh, these 'Claws are awarded the Darth Pickle Badge.

lindzabeth always uses the same model for her project turn-ins, and the pictures are always great for a laugh.  Here are her turn-in photos for Ancient Runes, Astronomy, and Divination, starring her derpy puppy (I particularly love derpy puppy wearing fingerless mitts):

Pumpahkin was sold a "telescope" by a shady fellow in Diagon Alley--here she is using her unique piece of scientific equipment for her Astronomy homework:

Once again, congratulations to all the creators of these wonderful projects!  Ravenclaw continues to soar!!!
