Sunday Quidditch: Which Way Will You Choose?

So far, 37 Ravenclaws have answered the riddle of the Sphinx, scoring goals in Match 1 of Quidditch!  I know many others are working on projects to turn in before the September 24 deadline. If you haven't started crafting yet, you still have time!  Take a minute to think about the riddle of the Sphinx and decide -- which way will you choose?

Firstie Friday: Meet Anniewithsticks

This is your Mama Eagle, Omeletsmom, reporting for Firstie Friday!  This week begins our series of profiles on our newest Eagles.

Our first feature comes courtesy of Big Eagle Bigsnakes:

…cue music from The Dating Game…

She’s a Leo with a penchant for cats. Her favorite colors are greens, blues and grays. She is partial to PG curse words, with “Jinkies” topping the list. When she is not knitting, she can be found dabbling with the written word, gardening, or training her cats. But not to worry… she is Ravenclaw through and through… and has the feathers to prove it!

Anniewithsticks loves to dote on her fur babies Lady Ella Elefantes the feline, Mrs. Mika Pants the petite panther, and Sir Budd of Buddington the black lab when she is not working her “mostly full time job” outside of Nashville, TN. She tells me that September is her busiest month of the year, yet she somehow managed to turn in two projects and propose an OWL in the first five days of the Fall term. Frankly, I am a little frightened to see what she will accomplish when she actually finds some free time!

Annie is married to a wonderful man who is both student and EMT. This gives me visions of them staying up late to do homework together and him tending to all sorts of knitting-related injuries.

But, I digress.

Annie’s main motivation for joining the HPKCHC was to start AND finish more projects instead of starting a million and letting them sit. One of the first things she said to me was, “I would love to get your help on trying to cram in as many points as possible.” Hmmm. No guessing how we got paired up. =) Annie also hopes to start crafting more substantial projects but acknowledges that a shawl for every class is probably not realistic. I love this! And, am incredibly relieved that I do not have to try to talk her out of attempting such a feat of insanity! LOL.

Annie has been crocheting for 15 years but is relatively new to knitting. Dauntless, she has already submersed herself in the deep end of Ravelry’s pattern pool.

Thanks for that enthusiastic introduction, Bigsnakes! I had a peek at Annie's projects and I am similarly impressed!

She turned in this cool blue cloth for DADA:

a striped baby sleep sack for Detention:

and is planning a larger version of this sweater for an OWL:

Impressive start!  Welcome to Ravenclaw, anniewithsticks!

Tower Treasure Thursdays: September Puzzles

The Ravenclaw house motto is "Wit without measure is our greatest treasure."  Tower Treasure Thursdays are posts that exemplify this motto in some way.

Today's treasure is a set of cryptograms.  Each of the 8 cryptograms uses a different code.  Solving one will not hold the key to solving the others!  There is a theme to the puzzles, but I'm not revealing it.

PM your answers to greenegirl on Ravelry by October 6.  The answers to this set of cryptograms and the complete list of solvers will be published on October 8, along with new puzzles for October.  If you would like hints for September's puzzles, PM greenegirl on Ravelry.
